About us
Harting Holland is a flexible, service-oriented tomato nursery. As a compact organization, the nursery provides a total package of products, services and excellent service, 7 days a week, 24 hours a day.
Team
Tomato is a labour-intensive crop, which is why we employ over 200 temporary workers during the peak season. Besides harvesting and crop care, the permanent core organization consists of many different positions.

History
For generations, the Harting family has been growing various products in glasshouses. Starting with cultivation under flat glass, today in very modern greenhouses.

Grower family
John Harting comes from a family of growers with a distinct love of horticulture. A variety of vegetable crops have been grown since 1927.

John Harting starts for himself
John Harting buys his first greenhouse of 1.3 hectares located in Honselersdijk.

The start in Maasland
The greenhouse in Honselersdijk is sold and a larger 2.8 hectare site is bought in Maasland. Crop labour is mainly done by a large group of students. Some of these students are now managers at Harting Holland.

Own sales
John Harting begins selling and packing his own and fellow growers tomatoes for the US market.

Scaling up
John decides that scaling up is necessary to remain successful as a business. That year, a new horticultural complex on Zijtwende in De Lier was purchased. At the time of purchase, there were 16 hectares of greenhouses and associated buildings on a 35-hectare plot.

Even more build
In 2000, 8 hectares of greenhouses and a modern packaging hall were build.

Total 30 hectares
In 2003, the plot was filled with almost another 6 hectares of greenhouses. Today, the family-owned company has four contiguous greenhouses with a total of 30 hectares of cherry and vine tomatoes.

Drilling for geothermal energy
The focus is put on future-proofing the nursery. For example, we started drilling for a geothermal well together with our neighbour grower to reduce our dependence on fossil fuels.
