Harvest

The harvest season roughly runs from February to November.

The operations

In the four contiguous greenhouses, 5.75 million kilos of cherry tomatoes and 12.5 million kilos of vine tomatoes are harvested annually. Harvesting is coordinated by the human resources coordinator who also serves as the contact person for the temporary workers. Cherry tomatoes are carefully picked and immediately transported to the cold storage in the distribution hall, where they are packed according to the customer requirements into various packages.

After harvesting, vine tomatoes are directly transported to the packing hall via the automatic robotic line, where the vine tomatoes are weighed and quality checked.

Besides harvesting and packing, there are many other activities required in tomato cultivation, such as twisting the plants, removing side shoots, lowering the plants, cutting leaves and pruning flowers in order to get nice trusses of 5 tomatoes.
